Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Vice Governor of West Sumatra, Nasrul Abit asked the relevant agencies to ensure the market for post-program soybean commodity Added Plants (LTT) up to 15 thousand hectares in 2017.

"This is a national program, and West Sumatra fully supports it. But its marketing must be clear so that farmers harvest will be where the market is," he said while being contacted from Padang on Monday (Oct 9).

One factor that makes farmers reluctant to plant soybeans is an uncertain market, as the industry prefers to import it.

As a result, most of the farmers harvest sold for the needs of community snacks such as soybean boiled or often called peanuts by people of West Sumatra.

In order to do not happen in the soybean crops, LTT program is targeted to produce up to 18 thousand tons of soybeans in 2017.

Head of the Food Crops Office of Holticulture and Plantation of West Sumatra, Candra said it coordinates with all parties, including industry in West Sumatra to accommodate soybean crops expected to increase in 2017, due to the LTT program.

In West Sumatra, there are 18 large tofu and tempeh processing industries, besides household scale industries. It is expected that the industry can help to accommodate farmers' harvests.

The local government together with central government, according to him, will prepare other market solutions if it is not maximized.

Previously a member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives of West Sumatra, Hermanto said that soybean LTT is a series of Pajale or Paddy, Corn and Soybean programs with reduced estuaries and empowering local farmers to achieve self-sufficiency.

Not all suitable areas are planted with these three commodities, however, all provinces must contribute according to local conditions.

West Sumatra is generally less suited to soybean crops. But there are some points that can still be expected to help the national program. These points are used.

Based on data from the Local Food and Horticultural Crops Office, there are ten regencies and cities in West Sumatra that support LTT ie Pasaman, Padang Pariaman, West Pasaman, Limapuluh Kota, Agam, Tanah Datar, Sijunjung, Dharmasraya, South Solok and South Pesisir Selatan. (cha)
