BBPBAT Sukabumi Distributes One Million Fish Seeds to Maninjau Lake

Lubuk Basung, (Antara Sumbar) - BBPBAT Sukabumi, West Java, conducted the distribution of one million fish seeds to Maninjau Lake, Agam District, West Sumatra, to preserve the native volcanic lake .

Head of Seal and Cooperation Test of BBPBAT Sukabumi, Calos Lisbon Sirait in Lubukbasung, on Thursday (Oct 12), said that one million seeds of nilem and tawes types are the result of spawning or fertilization process at BBPBAT Sukabumi.

"The seeds are a superior," he said during a friendly meeting with fish farmers and fish restocking in Maninjau Lake on Thursday.

He mentioned the distribution of fish seeds in Maninjau Lake is done gradually. The first phase was on July 7, 2017, the second stage was July 21, the third stage was August 3, the fourth stage was August 23, the fifth stage was September 7 and the sixth stage is October 12, 2017.

Currently, there are 900 thousand fish that has been stocked with the type of nilem are 700 thousand fish seeds and tawes 200 thousand.

In the near future, BBPBAT Sukabumi will spread 100 thousand more to Maninjau Lake to reach one million in 2017.

In the distribution of 700 seeds of nilem fish on Thursday (Pct 12) attended the Head of Freshwater Aquaculture (BPBAT) Jambi Ahmad Jauhari Pamungkas, Head of Fisheries and Food Security Agam, Agam Cendikian high school students, society and others.

He added, Agam is the district that get the most fish assistance in order to restock or spread from BBPBAT.

"Thanks to the persistence of Head of Department of Fisheries and Food Security Agam," he said.

He said the distribution of 2.76 million fish seeds in nine districts in Indonesia is done since January to October 2017.

Head of Freshwater Aquaculture (BPBAT) Jambi, Ahmad Jauhari Pamungkas, added the distribution of fish seed in order to increase fish populations or fish resources in public waters.

Besides, it is preserving the diversity of fish resources and improving the welfare of communities or fishermen from the increased income of fishery sector.

He hopes people can keep and maintain the fish so that the goal is achieved later.

While Head of Department of Fisheries and Food Security of Agam, Ermanto expressed his gratitude to BBPBAT Sukabumi who has designated the area as the location of fish distribution.

"BBPBAT Sukabumi annually appoints Maninjau Lake as a fish stocking location, and I hope it will continue," he said. (cha)
