Painan, West Sumatra, March 19 (Antara) - The Ministry of Communications and Information (Kemenkominfo) socialized and publicized the program of Universal Service Obligations, USO (Kewajiban Pelayanan Umum, KPU) in Painan, Pesisir Selatan District, West Sumatra, on Tuesday.
The Supervisory Board of Provider and Financing Management of Telecommunications and Information (BP3TI), Directorate of Post and Information Technology, Kemenkominfo Koesmarihati said the socialization aims to educate public on Kemenkominfo program.
KPU / USO program include Archipelago Internet Exchange (NIX), internet service for sub-districts program (Plik) productive centers, internet service access district (Jalik) in the form of "WIFI" as well as telecommunication and information at the border areas and outer islands of Indonesia (Telinfo tuntas ) to disseminate communication access throughout Indonesia.
KPU/USO is done in the Telecommunications Universal Service Area (WPUT) located in disadvantaged areas, remote areas, stub areas, border areas and low-income areas.
Koesmarihati said the program refers to the obligation of governments to ensure the availability of services for every citizen, even though the state does not directly play a role as an organizer of public service activities, especially in the field of telecommunications and informatics.
Meanwhile, Vice Regent of Pesisir Selatan Editiawarman said the program is expected to raise public awareness in the district to take advantage of Internet services in support of work and daily activities.
Currently, Pesisir Selatan already has 8 units of Internet Service Car that serving the needs of people for four hours in all districts in turn. (*/jun/jno)
