Arosuka, West Sumatra, May 14 (Antara) - A total of 978 teachers in Solok District, West Sumatra take the 2013 Teacher Competency Test (UKG) on Monday.
"The UKG aims to evaluate teachers’ teaching skills in order to improve the quality of education," Secretary of Education, Youth and Sports Office of Solok district Desmon said in Koto Baru on Tuesday.
Besides, the result of UKG will be used as a reference to design the activities of continuing professional development, as well as part of the performance appraisal process to get a complete picture of the implementation of all standards of competence.
The UKG is conducted in five location; SMAN 1 Gunung Talang, SMAN 1 X Koto Singkarak, SMKN 1 Gunung Talang, SMPN 1 Kubung and SMAN 1 Kubung on May 28 until May 30 and will be attended by 978 teachers of elementary, junior, high school and vocational school.
The test will be online and is organized by Institute of Education Quality Assurance (LPMP) West Sumatra with Education, Youth and Sports Office as facility provider.
"We Wish UKG implementation is progressing as expected, and can improve the quality of education for the future," Desmon said. (mar)
